Tamarisk Removal Project
Fish Ford Campground | Cisco, UT
Tamarisk:
Tamarisk, a deciduous shrub native to Eurasia, is an invasive species in Utah that can grow up to 25’ tall.
This 120-acre project focused on treating primarily tall, dead groves of tamarisk — bringing significant benefits to the surrounding campgrounds:
Decreased wildfire risk and enhanced cottonwood protection by removing excess fuels.
Improved riparian health through the removal of invasive species, helping to stabilize stream banks and reduce irregular erosion.
Promoted forest health by clearing dead tamarisk, creating space for neighboring cottonwood trees to thrive.
